Executive Overview
Velora is a production-grade gamified task execution and daily mission platform engineered with Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, and Supabase. Players tackle curated real-world challenges, submit photo proofs, build persistent streaks, and climb dynamic leaderboards. Incorporates strict server-authoritative reward distribution, reviewer audit workflows, automated 24-hour mission publication crons, and mobile progressive web app (PWA) installation.
The Challenge & Solution
The Core Problem: Gamification web platforms commonly suffer from client-side exploitation where users manipulate JavaScript memory state to spoof completed tasks or artificially inflate leaderboard scores.
The Engineering Solution: Engineered a strict server-authoritative architecture using Next.js Server Actions and Supabase PostgreSQL Row Level Security (RLS). Rewards (XP and coins) can only be minted via backend database functions triggered upon administrative review approval. Automated daily missions are scheduled and deployed through Vercel Cron jobs running on 24-hour cycles.
